FW: Final Inspection

THE FINAL
INSPECTION

The Marine stood and faced God,

Which must always come to pass.

He hoped his shoes were shining,

Just as brightly as his brass.

'Step forward now, Marine,

How shall I deal with you?

Have you always turned the other cheek?

To My Church have you been true?'

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,

'No, Lord, I guess I ain't.

Because those of us who carry guns,

Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,

And at times my talk was tough.

And sometimes I've been violent,

Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,

That wasn't mine to keep...

Though I worked a lot of overtime,

When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,

Though at times I shook with fear.

And sometimes, God, forgive me,

I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,

Among the people here.

They never wanted me around,

Except to calm their fears

If you've a place for me here, Lord,

It needn't be so grand.

I never expected or had too much,

But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,

Where the saints had often trod..

As the Marine waited quietly,

For the judgment of his God.

'Step forward now, you Marine,

You've borne your burdens well.

Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,

You've done your time in Hell.'

Who has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the Soldier, not the politicians
That ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It's the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for
the Military,
Please pass this on and pray for our men and women
Who have served and are currently serving our country
And pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

Ed Freeman

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."

— GEORGE ORWELL

No matter what your race, creed, color, religion or political preferences, this deserves to be read and honored.

Michael Jackson dies and it's 24/7 news coverage. A real American hero dies and not a mention of it in the news.

Ed Freeman

You're a 19-year-old kid. You're critically wounded and dying in the jungle in the Ia Drang Valley , 11-14-19 65, LZ X-ray, Vietnam . Your infantry unit is outnumbered 8-1 and the enemy fire is so intense, from 100 or 200 yards away, that your own Infantry Commander has ordered the MediVac helicopters to stop coming in.

You're lying there, listening to the enemy machine guns, and you know you're not getting out. Your family is half way around the world, 12,000 miles away and you'll never see them again. As the world starts to fade in and out, you know this is the day.

Then, over the machine gun noise, you faintly hear that sound of a helicopter and you look up to see an unarmed Huey, but it doesn't seem real because no Medi-Vac markings are on it.

Ed Freeman is coming for you. He's not Medi-Vac, so it's not his job, but he's flying his Huey down into the machine gun fire, after the Medi-Vacs were ordered not to come.

He's coming anyway.

And he drops it in and sits there in the machine gun fire as they load 2 or 3 of you on board.

Then he flies you up and out, through the gunfire to the doctors and nurses.

And he kept coming back, 13 more times, and took about 30 of you and your buddies out, who would never have gotten out.

Medal of Honor Recipient Ed Freeman died on Wednesday, June 25th, 2009, at the age of 80, in Boise , ID.   May God rest his soul.

Medal of Honor Winner
Ed Freeman!
Since the media didn't give him the coverage he deserves, send this to every red-blooded American you know.

THANKS AGAIN, ED, FOR WHAT YOU DID FOR OUR COUNTRY.
RIP

Change???

Is it just me, or does anyone else believe that we are coming out of our
economic slowdown sooner than anticipated by our Democrat-run government? I
see the economy getting better... It can't get worse, so it can only get
better from here, right?

Does it make you wonder???

You ever wonder how we pay for all our social programs??

At work, we have been given the "making pay work" credit by the obama administration. This credit reduces the amount of taxes taken from our checks, so in theory we can "make pay work" instead of making work pay...

Problem: We have tax amount X we need to contribute. But we only have 80% of X taken.... that leaves a 20% shortfall.... so what does that mean to us??

MORE TAXES. The 20% shortfall will be made up in April 2010 because we will owe it to Uncle Sam thanks to Obama.... Yeah - he gave us CHANGE alright - we have worse taxes, and different lies!

Greetings to My Fellow Americans:

Here we are just 8 days after Barack Hussein Obama was sworn in as 44th president of the United States, and I wonder how we will do in the next 4 years.

Already, we are seeing "change" as Mr. Obama promised, but I question his motives. His first act as President was to order a review of detainees at Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. If it ain't broke Mr. Obama, why fix it? American troops are fighting a global war on terror, and this is where they detain suspects. All interrogations are done ethically and within international law, and there is no need to review it, or to even contemplate closing it.

Also, when did the First Lady and Vice president's wife become members of the Administration? I realize they are the spouses of the two most powerful men in the world, but I had no Idea they were considered part of the administration.

just my $.02....

See ya next time

IN MEMORIAM

Now this is why I began this blog.

June 1, 2007 - Afghanistan - A dear friend of mine was lost. Killed in Action by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). To me, and Charlie's family, he was a hero... gone long before his time here was up.

Charlie had served Active Duty in the U.S. Army prior to joining the Army National Guard on his return to Tucson from Active Duty. So, he was no stranger to the risks.

I recieved word from our mutual friend Doug of Charlie's passing. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I have lost friends. Two in the line of duty. But never before was it someone I considered to be my best friend.
I attended a Military College right after High School... Charlie knew that... and appreciated my support for the Military as a result of that schooling. To this day, I believe what we are doing overseas is the right thing to do. Charlie fought and died for those principles, and it would be a disgrace to his memory for us to go on squabbleing like a bunch of little children over war issues.
I remember when Charlie and I first met - back in early 2005. He and I talked about his National Guard (NG) commitment, and I remember his first words to me: "Nobody knows what selfless means anymore." For Charlie, it was putting the mission, and the needs of his men before his needs. Charlie stepped on an IED while exiting his Humvee. He was exiting to go and assist another element that had been pinned down by Talliban forces. The only thing Charlie was concerned with, was saving the lives of those men that were pinned down.
I will miss Charlie - but I will never forget him. If you ask me - he's an American Hero of the highest order!
God Bless you Charlie Browning! You will remain in the hearts of my family and yours!
